| REHANCE FAQs
Does REHANCE
work on fabrics other than cotton?
REHANCE will
work on anything cellulose including Tencel®,
rayon, hemp and cotton blended fabrics. When using blended
fabrics like 60% cotton/40% polyester, you will dye the
cotton, but not the polyester, giving you a “heather” effect.
We are in the process of researching REHANCE for nylon and
hope to offer many printing options later this year.
What about
white T-shirts?
Since REHANCE is a garment print and dye process, it isn’t
applicable to garments that are to remain white. For white
T-shirts, we can provide many of the benefits offered by
REHANCE such as a breathable, “no hand” print and a product
that’s environmentally responsive. Utilizing water-based inks
and T.S. Design’s printing methods, we can help you can
achieve your promotional goals on any color shirt, including
white. We do recommend a cold-water wash after printing so
that garments shrinkage is minimal.
What is the
difference between Piece Dyeing verses Garment Dyeing?
Piece
dyeing means the fabric is dyed before it is cut into garments
while garment dyeing means just as you would think, the
garments are dyed after they are made. We use the same hot
reactive dyes in garment dyeing that are used in piece dyeing.
A major advantage with garment dyeing is that you eliminate
any shrinkage issues. Garment dyeing is sometimes associated
with inconsistencies; we eliminate this by certifying both the
fabric finishing and garment dyer.
Want to know more?
Are your dyes natural? We
use the lowest impact reactive dyes that are available on the
market today.
These are NOT
natural dyes. We are not aware of any natural dyes that
are commercially available that will have the wash and
color fastness that our clients demand. Keep in mind
that natural dyes use heavy metals as
mordants in order to achieve
washfastness and lightfastness Our reactive
dye system is low salt and low temperature,
which reduces two of the major impacts that
reactive dyes have on the environment. Our dyes do not
contain heavy metals and meet the current pending North
American Organic Fiber Standards. We continue to look
for ways to make our product more sustainable by testing new
dyes systems. If you need any further technical
questions please contact us and we will be happy to supply
further technical information along with MSDS
sheets.
Can I
provide T-shirt blanks?
We work
closely with our manufacturing suppliers to ensure you receive
a high quality product. REHANCE success is directly related
to the control of the following variables: fabric finishing,
printing, and garment dyeing. If the fabric finishing of a PFD
is unknown, we cannot ensure positive and consistent results.
Why is
REHANCE more expensive that other printed shirts?
REHANCE is
slightly more expensive in the initial cost but delivers a
higher quality product that will “outlive” normal
screenprinted products. Most printed t-shirts are dyed before
the fabric is sewn which is known as "piece dyed".
Some shrinkage will occur in the normal home laundering
process, even if the garment is labeled as preshrunk. With
garment dyeing, we allow for this shrinkage, ensuring a
REHANCE product will look and wear the same way after 20+ home
launderings. How many other printed cotton apparel products
can you say that about?
How many
shirts have been done in REHANCE?
By the end of 2001 we printed over 2.5 million prints with
REHANCE. We expect that number to continue to grow as the
consumer finds out there is a better T-shirt.
